4/27/22 - School Song

Today is our last day working to compose a school song for Bradley. Today we will compose the second verse. This should use almost the exact melody as the first verse, with possibly some slight alterations to account for rhythm of the text. Post your entire composition in this order: verse 1, chorus, verse 2, chorus

4/26/22 - School Song

We will continue to compose a school song for Bradley. Today we will compose the first verse. This should be equal in length or possibly a little longer than your chorus. Remember to keep the melody very singable. Add a harmonic chord progression to this melody. Keep it largely diatonic with some added chords. We often see secondary dominants and applied chords in school songs.

4/25/22 - School Song

We are going to compose a school song for Bradley. First compose four lines of lyrics and a melody that will serve as the chorus. This should be fun and catchy as it repeat. Remember to keep the melody very singable. Add a harmonic chord progression to this melody. Keep it largely diatonic with some added chords. We often see secondary dominants and applied chords in school songs. 

4/13/22 - Rondo form

Today is our final day to work on our rondo. Today we will write a coda that will go after the A3 section. The coda should include a lot of V-I motion and be approximately 8 measures in length.  Assemble your rondo: A1 Tr B ReTr A2 Tr C ReTr A3 Coda Post your entire rondo today.

4/12/22 - Rondo form

  We continue working on our rondo, and today we will write two different  four-measure retransitions. The first will go in between your B and A2  sections, and the second will go in between your C and A3 sections. The goal is to set up the modulations back to the tonic. Create dependent transitions that draw upon melodic musical material from the B and C sections. Just post these two short retranslations today.

4/11/22 - Rondo form

We continue working on our rondo, and today we will write two different four-measure transitions. The first will go in between your A1 and B sections, and the second will go in between your A2 and C sections. The goal is to set up the modulations from the tonic key to the new keys. Create independent transitions that use new musical material as the melodic basis. Just post these short transition sections for today's post.

4/6/22 - Rondo form

 We continue working on our rondo, and today we will write our “A3.” This section will be in the same major key as A1 and have the same melody as A1. Make changes for A3 by reimagining the accompaniment and adding embellishments to the melody. Consider changing the register or switching the roles of each hand. This is the last section of the piece, so consider making changes to give yourself a grand ending. Just post your A3 section today.

4/5/22 - Rondo form

We continue working on our rondo, and today we will write our “A2.” This section will be in the same major key as A1 and have the same melody as A1. Make changes for A2 by reimagining the accompaniment and adding embellishments to the melody. Consider changing the register or switching the roles of each hand. Just post your new A2 section today.
